Anne Marie Fleming has been painting and exhibiting her work since the 1970s. She earned a B.A. from the University of Maryland in College Park , Maryland , in 1974, and also obtained her M.F.A. there in 1986. She also studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania from 1976 to 1980; she was awarded the J. Henry Scheidt Traveling Scholarship in 1979.

Ms. Fleming has been represented exclusively by Steven Scott Gallery since it was founded in 1988 and has participated in more than 75 group shows there. In addition to her five solo shows at Steven Scott Gallery (1990, 1992, 1994, 1997, and 2001), she has held one-person exhibitions at the Buckley Center Gallery at the University of Portland, Oregon (1994); and at Foundry Gallery in Washington, DC (1987 and 1988). She is a signature member of the Northwest Pastel Society and was awarded Best in Show in the society’s eighth and ninth annual open juried exhibitions in 1993 and 1994. She exhibited in the City of Gresham (Oregon) fifth, sixth and seventh annual juried art exhibits, winning second place in the Art Committee Choice category (2004), first place in the People’s Choice category (2003), and Best in Show and first place in the People’s Choice category (2002). Ms. Fleming’s work was also awarded fourth place in the landscape category of The Pastel Journal Fifth Annual Pastel 100 Competition (2003) and third place in the landscape category in The Artists’ Magazine 2000 Annual Art Competition.

Her work has been reviewed in The Baltimore Sun (March 27, 2001; November 27, 1997), and has been included in group-show reviews in The Baltimore Sun (August 20, 1996), Museum & Arts Washington (July/August 1991), and Washington Art Reporter (March 1998).

Ms. Fleming’s work is represented in many private, corporate, and institutional collections, including those owned by The Washington Post, Washington, DC; the City of Gresham, Oregon; Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland; the Central Oregon Community College library in Bend, Oregon; the Federal Reserve Board, Baltimore, Maryland; the University of Maryland, Maryland Artists Collection, University College, College Park, Maryland; Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc., Silver Spring, Maryland; and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation in northern Virginia.
